Photography is an essential part of my life.
Ever since picking up a camera I’ve felt compelled to “create” and have worked obsessively to master my craft.
As a professional, I’m fortunate to get paid for my work but it hasn’t always been that way and it’s certainly not what motivates me.
It’s hard to describe the exhilaration felt knowing you’ve just captured something really special. Every time I do, the hairs on the back of my neck stand up and I get butterflies in my stomach.
Coaxing out the potential of those special pictures, in the digital “darkroom”, and presenting to satisfied clients, completes the experience for me.
Building a business on a compulsion to “create” and an obsession to continually learn / adapt certainly isn’t a route to fame or fortune but is a route I’m happy to follow even if my bank manager disagrees.
Outside of photography, I love films, music, the arts and all of them tend to influence my work as opposed to other photographers (a recipe for blandness).
I share a love of the outdoors with my best friends, Fozzie and Poppy (Labradors), and we like to get and about with a camera even though they make lousy assistants.
